Lockdown Lessons

I’ve just been trying to figure things out. What I want from life, from myself, from others. I’ve come to realise I want to do more of what makes me happy – without looking over my shoulder, making comparisons, or worrying what others will say.
One thing I’ve taken away from this lockdown is how important it is to make space and time for YOU. It’s so easy for us to get caught up in the chaos of life that we neglect ourselves as human beings and unknowingly become products of our environment instead of being consciously aware of our actions, the choices we make, our minds, what we think.
Take time out of your week to sit with yourself, reflect, ask yourself how do I actually feel? Why do I feel this way? What can I do to change this –if it’s in your control to change- or who can I talk to about this? These questions may be difficult to answer at first so be patient with yourself- you’re not supposed to have all the answers right there and then.
You may find answers or solutions over time or maybe it’s something you’ll never have the answer for and the answer lies in finding acceptance and forgiveness within yourself and, in turn, make peace with it and create peace within yourself.

Learning to be okay with being alone, healing from past experiences, detaching from toxic attachments, and coming to terms with my own toxic traits was difficult and painful, to say the least – it still is at times – but it is necessary to be able to move forward.
Also, take time to sit with yourself and allow yourself to just BE. Be with yourself, your thoughts, feelings, emotions. Recognise and feel them without passing judgement.
Someone told me something recently that really resonated with me:
Who you are at this very moment is perfectly okay.
It dawned upon me how rarely I ever hear this and probably how rarely many of us ever hear this. Yet, it holds so much power. It draws our focus to this current moment and it gives us that space to be accepting of who we are, how far we’ve come which allows more space for growth.
